As I read through this week’s material, I really began to think intently on what it means to be successful, and how can we attain that success while still having a balanced life? Too often we are told that we must give everything we have to our growing business if it is ever to succeed. While this method may prove to be successful financially, it may prove to be treacherous in other areas of our life, such as in our family or other relationships.

There is much to learn about running a business, I found it interesting how Ted Zoller talked about the paths to an entrepreneurial career and highlighted that sometimes the best path to running your own business is to work yourself to elevated positions in another business, thus helping you gain further education that will be invaluable on your journey.

If we strive to prepare for the journey of entrepreneur and work together with our families the entire way, we can find that balance is a possibility. When we are prepared to the best of our abilities, we are not going to have to decide later on what is most important, because we would have already decided that family is first, business is second and the preparation we have now will aid in the success of both.
