This week, one of the things that really stood out to me as I went thought the reading and videos of the course, was the video from Frank Levinson about hiring ethical people. He talks about the type of people who simply want to do good and that they have a desire to help their customers because that is what makes them happy, and a side affect of that is making money. He even talked about how when he first started with his company and was shipping out products, they didn’t even really have a return policy or warranty. They simply accepted all returns, even if they were five years old, because it was right, and he knew that that long ago, they had made some mistakes.
So many people are looking for the secret to making the largest amount of sales and bringing in the most money, usually with the least amount of effort. I think that one of the greatest ways to market yourself and bring in money does not fall along the lines of advertising. It falls into the category of ethics. I know that I personally will be a patron to a company more frequently that I feel actually cares about me and my desires rather than simply selling me a product and getting me out the door. I have spent well over $50,000 with Amazon since I became a member many years ago, because I know I will always get the result I want.
Being willing to do what is best for the customer, while still keeping your interests in mind and working to be successful, is one of the best ways to get loyal customers and greater sales.
